Job Description
We are seeking a highly driven, technically strong, and commercially astute insurance professional to join our growing Sales team in Durban. This role is ideal for a seasoned new business specialist with a proven track record of securing and managing large corporate and mid-to-upper market clients.
You will play a key role in driving strategic growth, developing high-value client relationships, and positioning the business as a trusted advisor in the commercial insurance market. The successful candidate will thrive in a high-performance environment and have the credibility, technical expertise, and executive presence to engage senior decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within the mid-market and corporate insurance sector
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with executives, key decision-makers, and industry stakeholders
- Manage the full new business cycle: prospecting, solution design, negotiation, onboarding, and handover
- Structure and present tailored insurance and risk solutions aligned to client needs and risk profiles
- Provide technically sound advice across a broad range of commercial insurance classes
- Partner with internal specialist and service teams to ensure seamless implementation and ongoing support
- Achieve and exceed agreed new business and revenue targets
- Develop and execute business development initiatives and market penetration plans
- Identify and drive cross-selling opportunities across business divisions
- Maintain accurate pipeline reporting and activity tracking in line with company standards
- Represent the business professionally and strengthen insurer and stakeholder relationships
Experience And Qualification Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ proven success in a New Business / Business Development role within a corporate or upper mid-market insurance environment
- Demonstrated ability to secure and grow large corporate accounts
- Strong technical knowledge of commercial insurance products and risk solutions
- Established market relationships and strong networking capability within the insurance industry
- Relevant insurance qualification (ACII / HCII / Fellowship advantageous)
- RE qualification and FAIS-compliant credentials (Non-negotiable)
- DOFA certificate and proof of INSETA credits
- Strong presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
- Valid driver’s license and own transport
