Credit Controller

We are recruiting for an experienced Credit Controller to join the Finance team of a well-established law firm in Sandton, Johannesburg.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the firm's debtors book, legal billing, collections and client account queries, while working closely with Partners, fee earners and the Finance team.

Key Responsibilities: 
- Manage and monitor the firm's debtors book and aged accounts
- Follow up on outstanding legal fees and conduct regular collections
- Issue statements, payment reminders and collection correspondence
- Liaise with clients regarding outstanding balances and billing queries
- Work with Partners and fee earners to resolve billing and payment issues
- Monitor payments, allocations and debtor reconciliations
- Prepare debtors age analysis and collection reports
- Assist with legal billing, disbursements, credit notes and account adjustments
- Escalate long-outstanding and high-risk accounts appropriately
- Maintain accurate records of collection activities and client communication

Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12
- 3–5 years' credit control experience
- Previous law firm or professional services experience advantageous
- Experience with legal billing, client/matter accounts and debt collection
- Strong Excel and general computer literacy
- Excellent communication, negotiation and follow-up skills
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Ability to work confidently with Partners, fee earners and clients

Systems Experience: 
Experience with legal practice management and accounting systems such as:
- AJS
- GhostPractice
- Legal Suite / Lexpro

Experience with other legal practice management or accounting systems will also be considered.
