Electrical Designer

Job Description

Gig Engineer is seeking the services of an Electrical Designer on behalf of its client based in Rivonia, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform electrical design activities across all project phases (feasibility, concept, basic, detail, construction support, and commissioning).
• Produce and check electrical design deliverables (MCC layouts, SLDs, cable schedules, earthing, lighting, substation layouts) in compliance with legal and industry standards.
• Develop technical specifications for the procurement of electrical equipment.
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs).
• Function as a project team member, working within budget and schedule constraints.
• Travel to site as required for project needs.
  

Education & Experience:

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (NDip) – no degree required.
• 5–7 years of relevant electrical design experience.
• Registration as a Professional Engineering Technician (Pr Techni Eng) with ECSA is highly advantageous.
• Essential: Experience in Oil & Gas / Petrochemical / Mining process plant environment.
• Essential: Experience with an EPC/EPCM Contractor (±5 years).
