🚨 LEAD DATA SCIENTIST – REMOTE | OCCASIONAL TRAVEL 🚨

Are you an experienced Data Scientist with strong expertise across Machine Learning, AI, statistical modelling and production data science environments? 💻📊

I’m currently looking to connect with an experienced Lead Data Scientist for an exciting opportunity with a leading technology organisation.

💼 What you’ll be doing:
• Lead data science initiatives from concept through to production
• Design, develop and deploy machine learning and AI solutions
• Build, monitor and retrain production-grade models
• Work with large-scale data using Python, pandas, NumPy and scikit-learn
• Develop data science solutions using Jupyter Notebooks
• Work with Delta Lake and modern lakehouse architectures
• Utilise PySpark, feature stores, training-data versioning and schema evolution
• Work with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, T-SQL and/or ANSI SQL
• Develop meaningful analytics and visualisations using Power BI and Python
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Data Scientists
• Own technical delivery and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Communicate complex technical concepts to senior stakeholders
• Contribute to Agile delivery within the Platform organisation

🔧 Key requirements:
• 7+ years’ experience across Data Science, Data Analytics or Data Warehousing
• Substantial recent experience in Data Science
• 2+ years’ experience in a technical or engineering leadership role
• Strong expertise in Machine Learning, statistical modelling and AI system design
• Advanced Python skills
• Strong experience with pandas, NumPy and scikit-learn
• Experience with Delta Lake or comparable lakehouse architectures
• Strong PySpark experience
• Experience with feature stores, training-data versioning and schema evolution
• Strong data warehouse experience
• Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics and/or Azure SQL
• Strong T-SQL and/or ANSI SQL experience
• Strong Power BI experience
• Experience with Python-based visualisation or interactive analysis tools
• Proven technical leadership and mentoring experience
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent professional experience

💰 Salary: R90,000 – R100,000 per month
📍 Location: South Africa – Remote
✈️ Travel: Occasional travel to Johannesburg or Cape Town, a few times per year
