🚀 We’re Hiring: Professional Nurse X2 (Permanent Role) – Speciality Scrub
📍 Johannesburg

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Professional Nurse – Speciality Scrub to join a theatre team in Johannesburg.

This role plays a vital part in providing expert perioperative care, supporting surgical procedures, and ensuring the safe and effective management of theatre processes in line with professional and institutional standards.

What you’ll be responsible for:
✔ Preparing theatre equipment, instruments, and consumables prior to procedures
✔ Assisting during surgical procedures as a scrub nurse across various disciplines
✔ Maintaining a sterile field and adhering to strict aseptic techniques
✔ Performing instrument, swab, and needle counts in line with hospital policy
✔ Supporting postoperative processes, including patient handover and instrument decontamination
✔ Ensuring accurate nursing documentation and compliance with quality and risk protocols
✔ Participating in training, mentorship, and continuous professional development initiatives

What we’re looking for:
✔ Degree or Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery
✔ Post-Basic Qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing Science
✔ Current registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Operating Theatre Nurse
✔ Minimum 3–9 years’ experience in a theatre environment
✔ Ability to function independently in the scrub role
✔ Strong knowledge of infection prevention, aseptic technique, and theatre protocols
✔ Excellent clinical judgement, teamwork, communication, and documentation skills

Bonus if you have:
✔ Experience across multiple surgical disciplines such as General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Paediatric Surgery, Cardiovascular, and Neurosurgery
✔ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
✔ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
✔ Experience mentoring junior staff and contributing to quality improvement initiatives
