Job Description

Bulk Connections is a dynamic, fast-paced organization dedicated to delivering exceptional service to its clients and fostering a professional and supportive workplace for our employees. We currently have an opportunity for a receptionist. The position is base in Durban (Island View). The candidate must meet the following minimum criteria.


Main Purpose of the Job

To provide a professional and welcoming front desk environment while supporting administrative operations


Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

➢ Matric/Grade12

➢ A relevant administration or office support qualification will be an advantage

➢ Proficiency in English (Read, write, speak)

➢ Computer literacy a must

➢ 2-3-year reception and/or general office administration experience


The successful candidate will engage in, but not limited to the following activities:

1. The reception function

➢ Receives clients/ visitors and advises or pages the relevant person

➢ Answers, screens and forward call and emails to the relevant person or takes messages

➢ Receives parcel deliveries and distributes them as required

➢ Manages the boardroom and training venue bookings

➢ Ensures the reception area is tidy, quiet and professional


2. Permits

➢ Responsible for issuing permits

➢ Assisting with queries relating to permits

➢ Liaising with the permit office regarding cancelled or expired permits

➢ Ensure all BC staff have valid permits

➢ Ensure all staff permits that are expiring are renewed timeously

➢ Ensure that when dealing with customers regarding permits, it is done professionally


3. General office assistance

➢ Assists in office administration by data capturing, typing, photocopying, filing as may be required

➢ Carries out other tasks as may be required from time to time

➢ Makes travel arrangements for Directors

➢ Arranges refreshments for Board meetings

➢ Manages office supplies and simple financial transactions

➢ Provides administration support to Procurement department


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required

➢ Able to handle multi-line phone system

➢ Polite, friendly, helpful and courteous to callers and visitors

➢ Above average computer skills (MS package and Outlook)

➢ Able to use general office equipment, printer, scanner, etc.

➢ Ability to remain calm under pressure

➢ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

➢ Ability to multitask
