We are hiring an experienced SQL Server DBA with PostgreSQL knowledge/experience for an exciting 12-month contract with renewal potential.

📍 Locations: Durban — Work From Office | Pretoria
⏳ Duration: 12 Months + Renewal

🔑 Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain High Availability (HA) & Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, including clustering, Availability Groups, and replication.
Develop and manage complex data movement and replication architectures across large database estates.
Perform advanced SQL Server performance tuning, including execution plans, wait statistics, query optimisation, and profiling.
Monitor database environments and proactively resolve performance, stability, and reliability issues.
Investigate critical incidents, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement remediation strategies.
Drive database automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, and self-service tooling.
Support cloud adoption, infrastructure modernisation, and optimisation initiatives.
Implement database security, compliance, encryption, auditing, and access controls.
Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational standards.
Provide technical mentorship to junior DBAs.
Participate in critical incident response and after-hours support when required.

🎯 Must-Have Requirements
6+ years of progressive enterprise database administration experience.
Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
Proven experience with HA, DR, clustering, replication, and database recovery.
Advanced database performance tuning and query optimisation skills.
Strong scripting/automation experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
Exposure to cloud platforms and modern infrastructure environments.
Strong understanding of database security, compliance, and data governance.
Excellent troubleshooting, RCA, and critical incident management skills.
Relevant degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
